I disagree, when I listen to the late romantic composer/performers or performers that lived into the early 20C their phrasing and rubato is much more over the top vs. Tampalini. To me he is very subtle and refined, very much a 20C performer, but with such a huge attention to detail — everything is perfect.

Hi Chris!
One of the few guitarists who knows what phrasing actually means:

Phrasing: How rare… how forgotten.
Highly recommended.

He’s one of my Favorites, actually!

They haven’t been phrasing music in that way, since the 1880’s. The performance by Tampalini goes way back, to they way it was once played.

To answer your other suggestion (which I didn’t post), I’ve featured him in a Monday Motivation post before: http://www.classicalguitarblog.net/2010/02/monday-motivation-tampalini-edition/

I’ve always wanted to attend NAMM. You are really lucky.
