[Guitar Concert] Eliot Fisk in Souix Falls, SD – Saturday, January 9
Hear what virtuoso guitarist Eliot Fisk considers a glimpse of the future of classical guitar music Saturday when he performs with the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra.
The Boston musician is excited about a piece written for him by Robert Beaser called “Guitar Concerto,” music he says is decades ahead of its time.
Fisk calls Saturday’s concert a “second premiere” of the piece because it has changed since he premiered it last year at Carnige Hall.
South Dakota Symphony Orchestra director Delta David Gier heard the original performance.
“I was at the premiere and said to Bob Beaser at the time, ‘We have to do this!’ ” Gier says, and he later scheduled the Sioux Falls performance.
