Paraguayan composer Agustin Barrios was born in 1885 and died in 1944. Barrios was, to put it bluntly, a character. He often dressed up in traditional Paraguayan dress and called himself Nitsuga Mangoré: Nitsuga being Agustin spelled backwards. Barrios was a masterful melody writer, and his elegant melodic treatment can be heard in his compositions.
